Sock it To Me for Valentine's!

Valentine's Day is almost here!  Are you making some sweet treats for your loves?  You know I love making gifts for the kids teachers, as a little thank you for the amazing job they do...this year I altered some 2 1/2 x 8 inch notepads and pens with a love theme...

I think digi stamps are becoming one of my favorite materials to work with, and I am having a lot of fun working on my coloring skills using Copic Sketch markers...I think they are getting better each time.  These adorable sock monkey stamps are from Whimsiedoodles here.  I love that she has a variety of stamps and sets that come up matching sentiments, like this "Sock it to me" one...super cute!

To cover the pads, I used a My Mind's Eye "Love Me" 6 x 6 paper pad and red and blue cardstock.  I was able to use up some ribbon and twine stash, left over from Christmas.  But, I needed some more ribbon and just didn't have what I wanted.  Instead of going to the store, I created my own!  I've seen lots of hand-stamped ribbon, so I gave it a whirl.  I  stamped red hearts with Tim Holt distress ink in Fired Brick onto this canvas ribbon for a great coordinating ribbon.  Do you make your own embellishments?

Happy Valentine crafting and thanks for stopping by!

School Days are Here Again ~ Altered Notepad for Teacher

My kids teachers seem to really appreciate a little handmade surprise at the beginning and end of the year...altered notepads are always a hit.  Here is one I created using some yummy papers from Dear Lizzy and Cosmo Cricket.  The Cosmo Cricket is a retired kit, but luckily, I hoarded some :)  This project is linked up to Craftin Desert Diva's Back to School Linky Party here.

I think these adorable girlies are perfect for the back-to-school theme, don't you?  You probably recognize the Michaels dollar bin stamp from previous posts; it's definitely a keeper!

The wood buttons and coordinating pen top everything off.

Thanks for stopping by!

You're a Hoot Notepad for Teacher

Need more gift ideas for teacher?  These thrifty altered notepads are cute and functional!  They are perfect when paired with another item, like a gift card or all by themselves.  These neutral brown, aqua and cream colors are neutral and would work for both genders.  I chose owls this year, but you could use any theme you like.

I found this fun ruler/tape-measure paper ribbon at Hobby Lobby for the "Teachers Rule" pads :)  The fun owls are printable clip art from Rhoda Design Studio...printable files are a great and economical way to make your own embellishments.

Don't forget about adding a name to the tag, WHO doesn't love a little personalization?

How will you thank your child's teachers this year?

Thanks for stopping by!
