Bee-cause You are So Sweet ~ Mother's Day Card Series

I hope you are enjoying my "You Can Call Me Queen Bee" Card Series this week!  For today's honeycomb-inspired card, I kept it clean and simple, not a lot of layers and just a few accents.

I tried out the Fiskar's hexagon punch.  I love the way the hexagons turned out against the embossed background.  The sentiment is my own design...have you ever played around with making your own printable stamps?  When I don't see the rubber or acrylic stamps I need to finish a project, I just create my own on the computer and print them out.  PicMonkey has lots of fun fonts to choose from, so go experiment!

Bee-utiful You! Mother's Day Card Series

Hello lovelies, thanks for popping over to my "You Can Call Me Queen Bee" Mother's Day card series this week!  Today's card was inspired by my bee-utiful mom, who loved all things vintage and gardening.

I added a pop of pink to this one, and the bee paper from My Mind's Eye was perfect for the theme.  I played up the vintage feel by tucking a folded paper doily between the layers.
The pom pom trim adds just the right touch of whimsy, don't you think?
What are your favorite card-making embellishments?

The Chunkier the Better

I won some amazing "Ivy Lane" Close to My Heart Goodies (CTMH) from Shalana a few weeks back and when they arrived, I knew the papers and dimensional embellies would be perfect for some pretty purple Spring cards!

I promised Shalana some pictures of my creations, so here you go.  I mixed and matched the papers with some textured cardstock I already had.  Ribbon with big bows are an easy way to add dimension and texture too.

Who knew purple and green could mix so well? The glitter gems add a little flair.

I know some like flat cards, but sometimes I think the chunkier the embellishent, the better.  To   accent the ribbon, I added the CTMH fabric flower and a stick pin I made.  If you're worried the cards won't fit the envelope, you can always go one size larger :)

I can't wait to use the gorgeous stamps, maybe on some layouts...

Do you use CTMH?  What are some of your favorite products?

A Baby's on the Way...

and No, it's not mine!!!  My bestie's having a baby boy and I am too excited to be co-hosting her shower in May.  I think the last party I decorated for was her bridal shower in 2012, so it's long overdue.  The theme is...you guessed it, Firetrucks and Dalmatians.  Here's a little sneak peek at the chalkboard invitations I designed digitally.  I would have loved to do them by hand, but time was not on my side!  I will be sharing more with you as we pull the details together ;)

What's your favorite hand-made party accessory?
